Work At Home For Moms – Getting Started With A Web Host Part 2

After you’ve found a great Web Host you need to decide which package you want to get.  Thankfully, they are all relatively cheap these days, and with good service too :)   If you’re just starting out online, you should do find with a basic package.  If you find a host you enjoy and your needs grow, it’s very easy to shoot off a support ticket and have them upgrade your hosting for you.

The important thing is that you make sure you will have a little room to grow with the package you choose at first.  For instance, right now you might be thinking of creating just one website.  After you get your feet wet you might want to create dozens of them.

It’s for that reason that you want to get hosting that offers you unlimited (or many) domains.  This makes life easy for you.  Another requirement you should have for choosing a good web host is that they offer cPanel.  cPanel is the easiest way to manage your sites.  If you’re new to working online I’d say this is an absolute must.  Bluehost offers a well organized cPanel.

It might all seem daunting now, and there is a learning curve to having your own websites, but it’s definitely worth it when you see those checks start to roll in!

Work at Home For Moms – Managing Your Time

One of the hardest things to do as a work at home mom is to mange your time.  It seems like the demands of your household always mesh with the demands of your business.  Work at home for moms doesn’t have to give you such a headache.

The first thing you need to do is to find some kind of balance.  You cannot be working so much that you neglect to take care or your household.  Likewise, you can’t get so distracted at home that you forget to do the things you need to do to run a profitable business.

It’s definitely helpful if you create a schedule.  Post this schedule so that everyone in your family sees it and understands your work hours.  This will help them to see that you have a real business and that mommy is off duty at certain times of the day.

Of course, you know that you’ll never be off duty, but it’s the perception that counts ;)

Another important thing is to manage your time well.  It’s so easy to get distracted when you’re working online.  You need to avoid distraction whenever you can.  Otherwise you’ll find that you’ve been working all day long with little reward.

Work at home for moms can run smoothly if you plan ahead :)

Moms Work At Home – Setting Up Hosting

When I first started out online I didn’t have any clue what a host or a domain name was. I remember wandering around the Internet forever trying to figure out exactly which end was up. I want to make the process so much easier for you!

This will be the first of a three part series about what a host is, choosing the size of the package you need, and getting started with your web host.

The first part is understanding exactly what a web host is. In a nutshell, your host (or “hosting company”) is where your website lives. These hosts have what are called servers. This stores all the information that is relevant to your website. For example, the host of this blog is called Hostgator. I also have another host for some of my sites called Bluehost.

If you don’t have a host, your sites won’t have anywhere to live. There is another component that you need to be familiar with as well. That is getting a domain name. Your domain name is exactly what it sounds like…the name of your website. The domain name for this site is http://www.workathomeformoms.net. The domain name for Goolge is http://www.Google.com.

Your domain name needs to “point” to your website in order to work. That is called its DNS. Don’t worry about that for now, because the first time you set up hosting with either Hostgator or Bluehost they will give you a domain name included in the package. They will automatically point the name to your site’s “house” or server.

It’s actually a really nice system :)

Just like you run your household, you also need to run your website. You can access your site’s information through the control panel of your host, called CPanel. Now, there are obscure hosts out there who do not run on Cpanel, but they are often confusing and certain things are not compatible with them. It’s definitely recommended that you stick with the tried and true since they are so cheap and work so well.

Have you thought about creating your own website yet? You should if you want to work online from home. That way you can start your web presence. It doesn’t matter if you’re going to be selling services such as ghostwriting or creating your own network of hundreds of niche sites, getting a hosting company is a great first step.

Here is the host I first signed up with, and a great one to use:

Women Business Organizations

Woman have made a lot of headway in business, especially in more recent years.  Even so, it can be incredibly helpful to become a member of women business organizations, and to network with other women.  If you haven’t considered doing this as a boost to your business, you’re definitely missing out.

First, you have to decide what kind of organization you want to join.  There are some that are specific to women, and there are others that are more general.  You may be on the lookout for women organizations in particular, but don’t forget about the general ones as well as they can definitely be beneficial for you.

After you’ve looked into general organizations, you can start so look at those that are geared toward women.  This subset can be further broken down into business specific ones as well.  If you head up a company you’ll find organizations for you.  Likewise, if you’re an online business owner or work at home mom you can find organizations for you.

It might be helpful to you to define exactly what a business organization is.

Britannica Encyclopedia defines it as “an entity formed for the purpose of carrying on commercial enterprise. Such an organization is predicated on systems of law governing contract and exchange, property rights, and incorporation.”

As you can see, business organizations can be very specific, or they can be geared toward one specific business.  Either way, you can find one that suits you.

A very large list of women business organizations can be found here at http://www.nwbc.gov/Links/womensBizOrg.html

No matter what you do, connect with other women who share the same business goals.  You’ll meet women who are newer than you and more experienced with you.  Your goals are the same, and other women can help you succeed in your business.  You’ll thrive among like-minded women.

What Is Business? A Mom’s Perspective

Asking the question, “what is business” as a work at home mom is likely more theoretical in nature.  There are many answers to the question, but it’s up to you to decide the best route for yourself.

Business to you might mean working for a boss and being a business woman dressed to the nines in fancy suits.  On the other hand, business might mean earning a full time income from home in your pajamas.  So, which sounds more appealing to you?

There is no one right answer!  If you decide that you’re the type to work for a company and advance as you get better at what you do, that’s what you need to focus on.  For the purposes of this article, we’re going to focus on people who want to carve their own way in business.

Working at home is an incredible dream.  Actually, many moms think it’s a dream that will never come to fruition for them.  Nothing could be farther from the truth!  If you’re willing to work hard on your business and build it up, you can earn a part or full time income from home.

It’s amazing how many moms who are out there, but aren’t sure what business is or how they can start their own.  Thankfully, the Internet gives people like you the chance to learn the ropes of business from the comforts of their own home. You can even get started for free and earn profits nearly right away.

It’s just a matter of weeding through the junk.  There are a lot of pseudo businesses out there who claim they will make you rich. They claim that you will barely have to lift a finger and the money will come pouring in.  They are literally lying to you.

You do need to work hard, so don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise.  Yes, there are businesses that basically run on autopilot, but it takes a while to get to that point.

What you need to do is decide what kind of business you want to start.  You’ll start to learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about business as you educate yourself.

You see, the answer to the question, “what is business” is different for everyone.  You need to find your own answer, and you will succeed.

Reputable Jobs For Work At Home Moms

Reputable JobsIf you’ve been looking on the internet for any length of time at all, you’ve probably run into a few scams.  There are always people out there who are looking to take your money and don’t care if you’re getting gipped in return.  It’s time you found reputable jobs for work at home moms.

First, you should know what to avoid when you try to find jobs online.

  1. Survey sites that promise you $20 per survey or more.  There are surveys out there that pay you a lot of money, but they are few and far between.  The competition for these things is intense, and you’ll likely get duds that are worth a few sense.  Especially steer clear of the ones that ask you to pay money to get the list of surveys to join.
  2. Multi Level Marketing Companies. You can actually earn a good income from these, but I recommend against them because they are far more trouble than they are worth.  Unless you get in on the “ground floor” you’ll likely struggle to make anything at all.  Plus, it can be very frustrating to get members, and when you do there is a huge drop out rate.  Some MLM companies are borderline illegal as well.
  3. Any company that asks you to pay upfront to get started.  If you’re looking for a real job, you shouldn’t have to pay money to get started.  The only caveat to this is if you’re buying information.  There is a lot of great information out there that is worth paying for, but you’re risking too much money if you’re simply paying to be hired.  There is likely some kind of catch there.

So, what should you look for in jobs online?  Honestly, I believe that you should create your own business, as that will be the path to your success.  Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds.  There are more opportunities than ever where you can start making a full or part time income on the Internet.

Some examples include:

1.Ghostwriting
2.Blogging
3.Affiliate Marketing
4.Article Marketing
5.Writing Your Own Ebooks to Sell
6.Creating Niche Websites

There are actually many other things to add to the list as well.  The best thing about each of these is that it is free to get started.  You may have to buy web hosting and a domain name, but other than that you are free and clear to start your own business.

Sure, there are a lot of scams on the internet.  But you no longer have to be a part of the scores of moms who get sucked into doing a lot of work for little pay.  The most reputable jobs for work at home moms are the ones you create for yourself.  Get started researching the model that makes the most sense for you today.

Moms Work At Home – So Many Great Reasons!

It’s great for the whole family when moms work at home. That’s not to say that every mom should, but if that’s the lifestyle you want it’s a great thing.
Here are some reasons why:

  • Have your children ever called home during school because they forgot a project or a lunch bag? Children can be very forgetful. If you’re a work at home mom there is no problem at all bringing them what they forgot.
  • Has your child had to stay home from school because he was sick? Kids catch all kinds of things from their peers. Instead of having to take off of work you don’t have to stress. When you’re your own boss there are no issues caring for your children when they need you.
  • If you have a baby, you get to teach her every step of the way. Learning skills and literacy improve greatly when the mother is able to stay home and cater to the individual child’s needs.
  • You can control your own income. Since you can own your own business as a work at home mom you can set and meet all kinds of income goals. Instead of stuffing a boss’ pockets with money, you work hard to provide a better life for your family.
  • When you work at home, you can set your own vacation time. Instead of having to win a lottery among co-workers, you get to decide when you want to take off, and do it with no hassle at all.
  • There is no reason you have to do the same thing each day. Whereas a day job ties you down to your desk at work, being your own boss at home means that you can develop multiple income streams. This will increase the profits you earn and keep you interested in the work you do.

There are, of course, many other reasons why it’s a great idea when moms work at home. What would working at home mean for you and your family? The chances are good that it would be a dream come true; a real blessing. It is very possible to be a work at home mom when you dedicate yourself and learn the tricks of the trade!

Moms Reviews From People Who Work At Home

It’s a big wide Web out there.  You might be getting stuck at figuring out which work from home job makes the most sense for you to do.  It can help to get moms reviews from people who work at home.  After all, it’s not good enough to just take people’s word for it, you absolutely need to make sure that a work from home job is viable for you.

I want to share my experience with you to help you get started. I’ve done many things online to try and make money from home. Some have been successful, and others have been duds.  Hopefully you can get a lot out of learning from my ups and downs.

  • Multi Level Marketing – This is one work from home strategy that I don’t recommend.  There are so many MLM companies out there where a few people (mostly the owners of the company) get rich off of selling the dream to others.  Upwards of 99% of people who join MLM companies fail.  I was one of them.  It’s way too much work for a little bit of return.
  • Ghostwriting – This was actually my ticket to freedom.  The first week I started ghostwriting, I matched the income I made as a teacher.  Web content is extremely important for the internet, and people are willing to pay a premium for it.  You can definitely be a successful work at home mom if you choose to become a ghostwriter.
  • Virtual Assistant – Just like brick and mortar companies need assistants to keep their business running smoothly, so do online companies.  The best part is that all the work is done online so you can work from your home no matter where you are in the world.  You’ll likely do things like data entry, answering e-mail, and other assigned tasks.
  • Affiliate Marketing- Affiliate marketing is a great way to get started online.    You drive traffic to a company’s website and earn money for every referral.  This is nice because there are no costs to get started.

There you have it.  Those are a few ways that I’ve been able to make a great income from home.  Not all of them are winners, but you can put some of them to good use and start making money very soon.  It definitely helps to have moms reviews from people who work at home, because then you know what works and what doesn’t.
