Cha-Cha Guide Review – How Much is Your Time Worth

Update on Becoming a ChaCha Guide:

Since I first wrote this post in 2008, a lot has happened in the online world. From the many, many comments this post has received, it is quite clear to me that I can stand by my original conclusion that ChaCha is not worth it for most people. Those who do claim it’s worth it, tend to also include their referral link :-)

With that said, ChaCha just might be a fun activity you can do while earning a few bucks at the same time.

But, if you’re looking to earn an income from home, I 100% do not recommend ChaCha. There are far, far better ways to make more money with your time.

Whether you’re a writer, have the ability to be a virtual assistant, like to do graphics design, etc.

The bottom line is that ChaCha won’t pay the bills, but there are plenty of things you can do to start earning.

Heck, head on over to Fiverr.com and post a few offers for things you can do for $5. It’s better than the .005 you might earn at ChaCha.

That’s my bottom-line opinion ;)

————————————————————————————————————————

(Original Post Below)

Okay, part of my job is to help the readers of this blog know what a good opportunity is and what a bad opportunity is. I know of many people who are interested in the Cha Cha Guide opportunity. Is it worth your time?

Well, I actively set out to find out. The only problem is that I wasn’t accepted as a guide. This was very strange to me as I have very good research skills, am a fast typist, and am generally good at all things online. I DID take the entrance test while my toddler was running around like a banchee, but I was very surprised to learn that I had not passed. I also didn’t read the guide I was supposed to read, so it’s totally my fault. Okay, I was a little bit bummed as I really did want to see what all the fuss was about.

A few days later I got an invitation for a new Cha Cha role called an “expediter.” This sounded interesting too!  Apparently I don’t suck that much ;) The basic gist is that you help speed up the process of connecting guides to people asking questions. I tried to log in to try this role out, but the login would not work. Several e-mails to the “guide care” e-mail and no response. I’m starting to feel like they don’t treasure their guides all that much.

That last paragraph made me realize that I should back up and explain what Cha Cha is. It’s actually kind of interesting. You can dial in on your mobile phone and ask a question. Human guides (Cha Cha guides) search for the answer and send it to the person “mobiley”.  (It’s free for the person asking the question.)

Now, this is not big money even if you are offered a role. As a guide you have the opportunity to make a whopping .10 per search. I think the average pay is around $4 an hour. Holy moly is that low!

While I was waiting to go “undercover” to investigate this opportunity for you I did some research on this company and how they treat their guides. What I found wasn’t pretty (suddenly, I was glad that their guide care people didn’t get back to me). In fact, it was downright scary sometimes.

The WAHM.com forum posters defintely didn’t have good things to say. There were a few people here and there who were having fun as guides, but many others had been terminated for seemingly silly reasons. Many people weren’t accepted in the first place, and those who were often felt like they were not paid anything near what they are worth. Debates about the program are rampant.

It seems like a dark world as a Cha Cha guide. In fact, they are heavily regulated to the point of craziness. People who had websites couldn’t post their true feelings for fear of getting banned. Those who did…got banned ;)

So, do I recommend you become a Cha Cha guide? Definitely not. While I wasn’t able to “get in” I did hours of research that told me to stay far away from this “opportunity.”

Working for pennies just isn’t the best way to work online.

Remember, if you want to start earning an income online, sign up for my free books. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. Sometimes you just want to earn more, and being a Cha Cha guide isn’t going to pay the bills.

Actually, I’m a guide and I’ve had no problems with Cha Cha. Sure, the pay is not going to make me Donald Trump, but it’s nice to be able to sit at home and work when it’s convenient. I can log on anytime and even do other things while I’m working. There is no pressure and you can earn as little or as much as you want, some guides even make up to $8 an hour. A new, growing company like Cha Cha is going to have some bumps in the road but they seem legitimately trying to work those out.

#2 admin on 09.09.08 at 2:14 pm

Hi Julie,
I’m honestly am glad to hear you’ve had a good experience :) I didn’t come across many who did in my research. It is attractive because you can work anytime you’d like, and it’s wonderful you are able to make that per hour.

I just want to warn readers that there are many people who’ve been deactivated without cause (according to them, though there are two sides to every story).

There are also many other ways to earn a great income online. Cha-Cha is one of them that is working out for some, just keep your options open ;)

For example, you can set up your own website, drive traffic to it and earn affiliate commissions. I started out writing articles (and still do, as a ghostwriter) and earned $30 an hour just starting out.

There are awesome ways to earn online, and it’s my mission to help mommas learn about them.

#3 Zach on 10.29.08 at 7:08 am

Hey,
I too work for cha cha as an expediter making .03 cents a question. I believe i started Thursday which was about 5 days ago and so far my revenue is 220 dollars. In fact, I make more sitting on my romp at home working for cha-cha then I stand working at Fed ex. So I got no complaints for cha cha.

#4 admin on 10.30.08 at 3:44 pm

Hey there Zach,
That’s great! The expediter role does sound like a lot of fun. It’s always amazing to figure out that we don’t have to treck out into the cold or do hard labor to earn an income outside of the home.

Working online is awesome!

Thanks for stopping by :)

I agree ChaCha is a joke. I got the regular question answering position and not only do you make crap money, but you dont even get questions back to back. I’ve been logged in all day everyday basically for the past 3 days while ive been doing my normal work. Since this time ive made 2.50! Its pathetic ! Whoever does chacha, get a real job because your wasting your time.

#6 Weigh smarderer now on 03.03.09 at 12:27 am

A sampling of questions and answers from chacha.

Question
How many calories does an average person burn a day
Answer
People in basic shape burn 300-400 calories per day from physical activity/exercise.

Question
What is the fastest way to get rid of acne
Answer
1 Wash your whole face with luke warm water. 2 Apply any kind of toothpaste to the affected area and leave on for 10-15… MORE?

I started working as a chaCha guide earlier this week, I took home $170 working four days part time. You can’t just expect questions to come to you, you need to actively update your keyword list and keep your questions high-q.

I’m expecting to bring in at least an extra $250 a week from ChaCha on top of my normal job as a freelance web developer – it’s great to have a steady source of income, and the “work anytime” atmosphere is great. To succeed as a ChaCha guide, you need to have a certain attitude, as well as good typing skills and general knowledge. It’s a really fun gig, and I’m very glad I found it.

#8 Tiffany on 05.27.09 at 2:48 am

It’s not THAT bad. I don’t know how the heck zach made 220 dollars in five days as an expeditor (btw, zach, if you see this, email me) but at least it pays. And the work is often interesting. I see it as putting three pennies in a jar every few seconds. It adds up. :)

My email is joe_bikebuilder@yahoo.com

#10 ND on 12.29.09 at 9:22 pm

Hey! You dont have to pay for materials, programs, anything. So it is surely worth a shot. If you try ChaCha and dont like it, well ………. quit! I’m going to try it and I will let you know what I think.

“For example, you can set up your own website, drive traffic to it and earn affiliate commissions. I started out writing articles (and still do, as a ghostwriter) and earned $30 an hour just starting out.”

How does anyone manage this? Anytime I look for information on how to do this, it’s always a ‘pay us x-amount of $ to find out.”

#12 TheAnswerDiva on 01.31.10 at 1:39 pm

I took the ChaCha test and on to the next phase which is taking the “test”. I am a stay at home mom and am anxious to find a job from home. I don’t expect to get rich from my laptop but a little extra money will be nice. I am nervous about taking the test because I was warned I only have one chance. I love to write so I am highly interested in the at home work that the writer of this blog speaks about. Take care.

#13 s.k.d on 02.11.10 at 5:45 am

dude shut up it is good money if ur not fucking lazy

#14 Sam on 02.14.10 at 5:33 am

Now ChaCha has a point system…guides are now getting paid around 1 cent per question if your lucky…. Jan was about .004 per point and you get two point per question as an expiditor…so under the current pay system it isn’t worth your time. I average about 100 points an hour during normal times… that a whole 4 cents and hour.

#15 Kat on 04.18.10 at 6:43 pm

I have just started as a guide, and while I admitakong myself sit there and answer questions challenges myotivation, I am making money. Those that are trying to make money need to understand you get what you put in. You must set ip your categories if you want questions to come to you. I have had nothing but back to back questions, but you have to get them coming in.

#16 ninjaseeker on 06.08.10 at 12:20 am

I was a ChaCha guide as well. On average you would make $2/hour, if you really strain yourself you can get $5 /hour.

Don’t lie you guys, don’t try to promote your cheap website, ChaCha is NOT a new company don’t act like they have kinks to work out. They’ve been around for YEARS.

All they’ve done is continually cut the pay rate of guides. FACT. They ban you if you make too much money in a given period. FACT. Don’t try to make it up to yourselves, I’ve tested it myself and with friends, you cannot make “hundreds of dollars a week part time”

No, you have to lie to yourself and act like you didn’t spend 12 hours a day to make that money.

Cha Cha also lags their own servers to prevent people from making too much money. Do the math you idiots, do you think they can afford to pay $100 to 35000+ guides a month? A WEEK?

THATS FUCKING 14 MILLION DOLLARS A MONTH THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT, DO…THE…MATH. SCAM.

#17 Jenn on 06.09.10 at 2:31 am

Oh, calm down…Most people who go into this sort of thing don’t expect to be bringing in hella dough; they just want some extra cash, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

And keep in mind that Cha Cha is a FREE service. They mainly make money from the ads they send you with an answer.

If you want to try it, you really don’t have anything to lose.

i just started working for chacha. its something to do when im bored, and i bring in some cash. today i made 5 bucks. and to an 18 year old, thats enough!

quit hatin.

#20 Tiera on 07.08.10 at 8:31 pm

I’m sure that no one is silly enough to use this as a full time job. I have a full time job but I am looking for something part time to earn a few extra bucks(NO FEES! IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE TO PAY MONEY TO MAKE MONEY!). So while this won’t make me rich or pay my bills, I’m sure it’ll be a great opportunity to just make a little extra spending money :) Will I quit my job for this? HECK NO!!! But I will give it a shot just to make my monthly income even a little higher :)

#21 admin on 07.08.10 at 8:53 pm

Tiera, you make some good points. But, I wonder why not explore better opportunities. Yes, it’s not good to spend money to make money. However, there are many great resources on the web (both free and paid) that can educate you on better ways to make money online. Paying for an education is different than paying into a biz op.

For instance, I have several websites out there making me affiliate income passively every month. It sure beats sitting at my computer and earning pennies for ChaCha questions. I did pay for some resources to teach me how (I’m always expanding my education) — and my wallet is far better for it!

I just urge everyone to explore other opportunities out there. Affiliate marketing is a lot of fun :)

I highly recommend Bring the Fresh as an educational tool on affiliate marketing and SEO for anyone interested in making more than pennies for their time ;)

#22 admin on 07.08.10 at 8:55 pm

Alx — there is better stuff out there :)

#23 rose on 07.15.10 at 1:53 pm

I have been working for ChaCha for a few months now and it seems pretty good. In a week I can make an extra $100. Its good money for me because I am a stay at home mom and my husband makes great income so that I can stay home with the kids. It balances out for me because if I had to pay child care for all 3 of my kids a week out of a regular work check I would only have about $100 left anyway weekly. So this way i can be with kids and still make the same pay I would if I was in the working world. Started my sisters on it and one of them makes about $120-$140 a week being that she has a little more time than myself. She is also a stay home mom.

#24 Vellum on 07.15.10 at 11:14 pm

I just started working with ChaCha. I know it isn’t a whole lot of money – most people I have heard of doing it can’t get more than $3.00 an hour for it.

The reason I am doing it is because I enjoy answering questions anyway, and also I prefer to set my own hours. I’ve got my dream job, but it only offers me 10.5 hours a week. So rather than be required to go out and get a second job, and be at other people’s beck and call, I get online for an hour here or there each day and answer silly questions. I’m getting faster at it every day, so I should hopefully be able to break the $3.00 per hour mark.

I’m just doing it for now while I try to get my own business set up, and I need a little capital while doing that. It’s is great not to have to job search when I’m already nearly where I want to be anyway.

#25 Alison on 07.28.10 at 6:03 pm

I’m a ChaCha guide, I have an out of home job, and whenever it gets slow here, I log in and answer questions. No, it doesn’t make a lot of money. But it bumps me from making about 7 dollars an hour to about 10. Which adds up over time, and I’ll use that money to put into my savings every month. Not a full time thing, but hey, it’s not a terrible thing to do on your down time.

#26 kfrank on 08.04.10 at 2:14 am

I just got accepted today, I’ve been on for about 2 hours total and just made it to $3. Either it’s really slow, or it’s really stupid. But again, I’m not complaining. I can’t find a job better than Tim Hortons to save my life so any money is good money. Only problem is, that they take $2 when you decide to accept your money. How stupid. Aw well. I’ll let it build up like a savings account. I’m just cleaning/reading/anything, while I wait for the ding so, good luck to all. I’m okay making 20 cents on a question that takes me 30 seconds every like….minute. I don’t care. (PS, I haven’t gotten ONE ding while typing this entire thing)

Thank you. Have a nice day.

#27 lady luc on 08.06.10 at 9:35 am

Admin….this is a prime example of one the the websites that you are getting paid for. You’re really good!!!

#28 I love working for ChaCha! on 08.08.10 at 5:35 am

Ok, so heres the deal. I’m currently a ChaCha Expiditer. You make .02 cents per question although it adds up pretty fast. I’m not going to say that it’s alot of money, but it helps if you need it. I currently make between 40-60 dollars a week, although I don’t sign on as often as I could. If you decide to apply, it really really helps if you have a referral email. I failed the test the first time, took it again with a referral email and passed. You can use my email if you want, it’s angelrock_222@hotmail.com . Good luck!
Here’s the site you apply at! http://becomeaguide.chacha.com/
Keep in mind, you have to be 18 years or older and have a computer with internet

#29 Jelly on 08.12.10 at 12:15 am

I think that it is foolish to depend on ChaCha as a main source of income. Even on the website for recruiting guides does it say not to use ChaCha as a primary source of income. It seems like some people have had success making a little side money with it, so I do not think this is a bad business. If you were greedy and wanted to make more in a short amount of time, get a real job, or start your own business. Being a ChaCha is a cool way to kill time on those really boring days, or if you want to save up a little money, but nothing more.

#30 longjohnsilver on 09.03.10 at 3:24 am

Im 18 and still don’t have a license, but i guess im the only one to blame for that. For me, any kind of income is welcomed and appreciated even it is only fractions of a cent for every question. When you have to pay for books and classes you grab any money you can get.

#31 Angela on 09.09.10 at 4:31 am

So i tried the ChaCha guide, read and went through all the videos to become a guide and I got an e-mail saying I didn’t pass the test. Granted I had a lot going on just like the gal who wrote this post but, I have tons of time and love to answer random questions. I really don’t care about the money, I just wanted to feel like I was helping people out. :) but, i didn’t get it. I’m still kind of bummed… lol i find it funny because there seems to be a lot of guides. I wonder if there is something similar to ChaCha that I can do.

Does anyone know if there is a similar site, or if I can get into ChaCha some other way? OR if there something else I can waist my time on that I can be paid for? hahaha

~Thanks ;)

#32 Autumn on 10.04.10 at 6:14 am

Okay ChaCha people, you need to stop fibbing. The only way to really make more then 2 or 3 dollars and hour is to build a team so that is why you fib and try to get people to sign up under you.

ChaCha is a total waste of time. You can make way more money picking up short task work on mturks.amazon.com or cloudcrowd.com. Don’t waste your time on ChaCha.

#33 Andrew on 10.19.10 at 2:35 pm

To ninjaseeker

If you really want to be technical about “scams,” then you should consider almost any job as a scam. Almost anywhere you work for an employer that is your boss. In a sense, you make them richer by working for their company. So more than 90% percent of the WORLD is involved what you call a pyramid scheme, and the 90 percent is generous.

#34 Jo on 10.30.10 at 4:12 pm

Hi Admin!
I was actually interested in the Cha-Cha guide position but after reading everything on here, I decided not to for a couple of reasons, but those aren’t important right now lol. How do I become a ghostwriter like you? It sounds like something I would be good at. I am really serious about this so if you do have time to tell me, I would really appreciate it! I will continue to do my research to see if I can find something worth doing.

Thanks so much!

#35 lyssa on 11.23.10 at 6:02 am

I work for chacha and at first, I felt it was barely worth my time. Lately, I’ve decided to earn 10 bucks a day just for some extra spending money for Christmas. Its super easy. I find that questions come in non-stop, and I am able to easily make $5.00 a hour up to about $7.00 if I am giving it my full attention. I usually watch tv while I do it though. Its not bad to just make $10 a day … It adds up quickly!

#36 Agree on 11.24.10 at 10:05 pm

I agree with ninjaseeker. Once I hit $100 they banned me. My husband and his parents did it to and they banned them.

ChaCha sucks!

#37 Lauralei on 12.07.10 at 7:19 pm

I love ChaCha – I average about $125 a week from what I do – but the best part is getting paid for referrals. Email me and I will help you pass the test (put me as a referral: lauralei143@gmail.com) and I will show how I get the best referrals to make even more money

#38 Javon on 12.13.10 at 12:19 am

Joining ChaCha is easier with a referral, use mine! javon.beckham@gmail.com

#39 Charlene on 12.21.10 at 7:47 pm

I love ChaCha! I have been working as an Expediter since November of this year and have had no problems at all! The more you put forth into your work @ ChaCha the more you will make per hour/day/week/year. It is as simple as that.

#40 Dude on 12.29.10 at 3:29 am

I’m working for Cha Cha now trying to bring in a steady but SLOW income. I’m a little concerned about the banned stories. We make pennies as it is, so if it’s a scam on top of it I think I’d donate the rest of my life to warning people about it.

But I’m hoping the relationship stays good, because I do the job seriously even at $2 an hour. In fact it requires your full attention to make even that.

Can I recommend it to others? Only if you’re a shut-in ready to be used by a heartless corporation for slave wages.

#41 KatKerfuffle on 01.05.11 at 10:12 pm

Cha Cha is one of the worst sites I have ever used and been apart of. For one, there are many sites out there that allow you to work from home and make a lot more money as compared to Cha Cha.

Anyway, I signed up for ChaCha back in October of 2010 and NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM. I finally got frustrated with them and sent them an email asking about my test results and they kept sending me computer-generated emails. Very frustrating! Finally, I got a response from them stating that I was actually accepted as a guide and they just forgot to activate my account. Considering the fact that you have to go through their “university” and watch about an hour’s worth of training videos in order to “work” for them..it’s ridiculous.

After that, I was somewhat excited to begin my work for them. After all, almost everyone says that you can make 15-20cents per question you answer. This pay rate is no longer valid since Cha Cha has now become a free service and has thousands of Guides working for them. The current rate of pay is 2cents per question answered. Yes….TWO CENTS. I spent an hour on Cha Cha and answered a ton of questions and came out with about $1. A dollar an hour????!!! That’s absolutely terrible and NO ONE needs to work under those conditions. There is no profit to be made from Cha Cha and you are just wasting your time if you think there is. What’s more, the majority of the questions you will be answering are sent to you by preteens; lots of sex/does he love me? type questions.

I truly hope that more people see Cha Cha for what it really is: a triangle scam. I work from home on a variety of different sites for about three hours a day and I make almost $1,000 a month. Cha Cha is nothing compared to other methods out there.

#42 K on 01.13.11 at 6:01 am

i became unemployed and started working at chacha to make some extra money. as soon as i hit $78, i got banned. i got an email saying theyre giving me 10 days notice and i can withdraw my $ or wait if i have it set for auto payments to get it in 60 days. i tried to do the withdraw myself and lose $2 but they force you to open a bank account at first internet bank. i called the bank and it seems like some shady bank, they’re not even SIPC insured – only FDIC. also you’re not given a bank account right away, it takes several days – i bet you its more than 10 so i’ll be forced to wait 60 days (they prob say this and hope you forget so they dont pay you)

overall chacha really blows, you earn $0.02 per question and i was answering questions through the day and sometimes late at night to get some extra $

don’t waste your time on it..

#43 Nate on 01.14.11 at 4:16 pm

The pay is absolutely terrible, it really is an exercise in futility and the questions you get are typically rediculous either in their content or what they want you to spend your time researching for the 2 cents that ChaCha may, or may not decide to pay you.

Then there’s getting paid. If you make $150 in a month (which you’d have to have no life or have a ton of referrals to do), you can get a check.

Otherwise, you have to open an account with First Internet Bank which is the most FEE oriented bank I’ve ever seen.

They’ll charge you $2 to transfer your money (which was way under minimum wages to begin with) to their bank – for the privilege!

Then let’s say you just want to do a simple transfer from their account to one you already have….sorry, that’ll be $5 more.

I suppose First Internet bank believes in a dog named FiFi because they sure have a lot of fees.

You’d be MUCH better of getting a job delivering pizzas, you’ll be treated better and you’ll make a lot more money – believe it or not.

#44 Best Mom Ever on 01.20.11 at 12:30 am

ChaCha works for the person who is willing to make it work. Most of us want to get rich from a work at home job, but chacha advertises that you are contractor and this will not replace your income full time.

At the most I have seen people make up to $500 a month. The comment from Lyssa, states you can make $10 a day and average about $300 a month if you work everyday. Now that is a reasonable income.

Just imagine for 30-60 minutes you answers some one’s question, and the great ideal about that is you don’t have to sit there the entire time, you can spread it out over the course of the day.

chacha works for people who want it to work. The reason people try to offer a referral is to help build a team. Working as a team is sometimes the best way to make the money, because you have multiple people all helping to answer questions rather than just one person.

Best Wishes~
Best Mom Ever

#45 Cindy on 01.29.11 at 1:49 am

Hi, I signed up for ChaCha and now waiting for my test result. I am too ok with making a few dollars. Every penny does count. My plan is to have another on line job that pays more. Can someone please inform me of at home jobs that are free to start and actually pay out. Thanks.

#46 Tiaan on 02.08.11 at 12:53 am

I have been working with ChaCha for the past 3 years, making around 100 dollars a week as a Generalist. I can verify that it is much easier to be approved as a new guide if you have a referral, so feel free to use mine (tiaanthreeeyes@gmail.com) and my guide handle is Tiaanmt. Feel free to email me or PM me with any questions!

#47 Chachasucks on 02.18.11 at 4:11 am

Ok, I am a BRIGHT science major who JUST finished my Bachelors. Because the economy SUCKS I figured I would give ChaCha a shot. I really resented that you only made $4/hr, but whatever. I told myself I could make a quick $100-something a week. I just spent 3 straight hours answering 500 questions. Do you want to know what they listed my payout as? 8 cents. YES. You read this right. 8 cents. They have a guaranteed rate of paying you.005 cents per answer. NOT a nickel, a TENTH of a nickel. SICKENING AND PATHETIC! They need to hire real employees and pay them more.
Whoever said they make $8/hr is FULL OF IT. Maybe last year or the years before, but there’s a reason ChaCha is trying to hire a crapload of guides/exp.’s right now. They do NOT want to pay the 10 cents they SUPPOSEDLY used to pay. You have to answer 10 questions for a nickel. LUCKY YOU! I rather sleep. After taxes it’s more of a pain for me if anything.

#48 Sarah on 02.19.11 at 5:32 am

Since I’m unemployed right now courtesy of the economy ChaCha has become my full-time job. It sucks barely making $10 a day but hey, it’s money that I don’t have.

ChaCha’s pay is pathetic, and the expectations are phenomenally harsh. I was always told I would make 10-20c an answer. I get in and find out I make 2c an answer. I went on the forums after two weeks of working like this (and making about $26 in ten hours of work – $2.60 an hour) and posted a thread asking about the pay. In less than fifteen minutes I had a flood of angry posts back from other forum-dwellers telling me I should never’ve taken the job if I didn’t like it, and I shouldn’t complain about the pay, and how work at home moms are paying off their small-time bills with it… Well… I’m so sorry… I have no way of knowing what the job’s like without taking it first. And I’m not a work at home mom… I’m a 19-year-old dude trying to find some income. I might be young but I’m not stupid, $2.60 an hour is trash. I might as well go stand in Hollister, do nothing, and get paid $8 an hour to do it.

The guides tend to be jackarses about all this, standing up and telling me I should quit because ‘I’m lazy’ and ‘I get what I earn’. If they’re happy making slave wages, not my problem. I think it’s because they all know if they said anything against ChaCha they’d be fired.

See, what nobody tells you is, you’ll never make any REAL money until you’ve somehow – somehow – pulled in 40 referrals and you’re making $100 a week sitting around doing nothing, and on top of that, you have to pretty much be a Specialist if you want to make any money on your own WITHOUT your referrals. 10-20c an answer sounds fine to me. 2c an answer is not, especially when I’m expected to type over half of my answers back.

Do yourself a favor, and don’t try ChaCha unless you can find a position outside of Expeditor. I think you could go to KGB and make hella more, they actually pay EVERYONE 10c an answer, or 5c for a preselected answer. ChaCha pays you 2c either way. BS.

I would also like to know about any work at home jobs that are not scams. Has anyone heard of Project Payday?

#51 Megan on 03.11.11 at 3:11 pm

I’m a ChaCha guide and it’s ridiculous. Yea, it’s easy but .02 cents a question? Are you kiddin me? Hell no. Screw ChaCha.

#52 admin on 03.19.11 at 3:13 pm

Corrine — I actually tried Project Payday when I first got start online in ’07. If you’re willing to sign up for offers, you can make some pocket cash pretty quickly :) It’s not a scam…but it wasn’t a good fit for me.

#53 Austin on 03.31.11 at 1:02 am

I’m not sure why you guys think its a dumb idea to spend money to make money… You really do have to spend money to make money (More money than before that is). It’s pretty much how capitalism works. Just look at the root word – “Capitol”
Now, I’m interested in ChaCha to make some extra cash. My family’s budget is starting to run tight. All i want to know is the hourly wage you think it is possible to make. And also, is it possible to get promoted?

#54 Mom to B on 04.02.11 at 1:26 am

Some of you are getting it rather confused. You CAN make 10-20 cents every question answered. You have to be a SPECIALIST to make 10-20 cents an answer. GENERALISTS make 8 cents. EXPEDITORS make the whopping 2 cents everyone is talking about. So if you want to make more money, become a Specialist, or even a generalist. The readiness test just includes the “harder” questions you get sent from Expeditors who can’t/don’t want to answer them.

Am I saying ChaCha is the most awesome thing ever? Hek no. However, I put an extra 40 buks in my pocket this month, logging on for less than an hour a day, a couple days a week. Is it complete crap pay, yes. Is it worth the couple hours I put into it every week? Yes! I’m not going for multiple zeros in my bank here. For the sometimes half hour I spent on it, It’s cool to have an extra 40 buks to save, when I did next to nothing.

I actually took the “readiness test” for being a Generalist and passed it, but I got the congratulatory e-mail today so I have no income from that to speak for being a Generalist yet. I figured I’d promote myself slowly, as I didn’t want to jump the gun and screw up the test. I plan on becoming a Specialist, and putting an extra 150 (or so) a month in my pocket.

I do not have another outside the home, “legit” job, as I am in a complicated/high risk pregnancy, and can’t work. And sitting on a computer for a few minutes in the comfort of my home,
and getting even just a little money to save in the time being, is helping out. That’s my life story.

IF I get banned for making too much money, I’ll be back on here to let everyone know. However I don’t see that happening, as I’m NOT trying to make $1000 a month from ChaCha. Just an extra hundred or so.

Chacha is what it is…I am an Expeditor…pretty easy gig…you just have to put in the time answer weird questions and submit…you wont get rich but its a time killer and u can make a few bucks……great for those who have no education or drive I guess or those going through hard times…beats standing outsie a Mcdonalds bummin change…..not for everyone but what is?

#56 Amanda on 04.19.11 at 11:12 am

I am doing ChaCha for some start up cash to try and start my own online business. Honestly, for someone that doesn’t know how to do anything better, it is great. I do it while I watch movies, or when I just have 30 minutes to sit around and try and fill with something. It adds up. I’m hoping soon I’ll be able to get a domain and web hosting instead of using blogspot.

By the way, I’m writing a blog about my attempts to find good ways to make money online. I actually link back to this blog. You have been a great help! I loved the e-books.

#57 SaraSue on 04.24.11 at 11:01 pm

I love working for ChaCha. You don’t make a lot of money, but it’s fun and entertaining. It does help to have a referral, so feel free to email me at SaraSueChaCha@gmail.com and I’ll send you an invitation to apply and I can answer any questions you might have. ChaCha!

#58 Simon on 05.08.11 at 6:19 am

I just started with them and refuse to do any work. I first failed the test, but they decided to give me a new position they started called “vetter” which is basically an expiditor but “with a human touch” and the pay? $0.005 yes that is half a cent per question…

#59 Suzy Q on 06.07.11 at 7:23 am

ChaCha is sooooooooooooo lame! They now pay $.005 per question. The people making $.02 barely get any traffic and people are averaging $1 an hour if they are lucky, yes, LUCKY!

If you want to make money working from home, stay away from ChaCha Search.

If you need questions asked while away from home, same applies. Stay away from ChaCha search.

Sorry folks but that is the truth about ChaCha.

Internet marketing at it’s finest… Notice this site was a top 5 hit in Google, and it just became one big sales page with “Free” stuff….Yeah, I trust this opinion…lol

#61 admin on 07.16.11 at 5:42 pm

Spdzmknz, you can trust whatever you’d like. If you’re happy earning tenths of a cent for your hard work, more power to you.

But, I could never recommend this for someone who wants an actual income.

If you’re not interested in my “free stuff”, that’s fine.

There are some excellent tips in there on earning a real income, so you’re missing out :)

I have, quite literally, had people e-mail me months after downloading my “stuff” to tell me they are now earning a great income and feel so blessed to have gotten the info for free.

It’s no mystery, but I’ve had my online business since 2007 and earn far, far more than I ever did when I was a teacher.

I do have some insight into what works and what does not, even if you’re not interested in hearing about it :-)

#62 Sarah Hughes on 08.24.11 at 3:35 am

If interested in chacha…give me a holla…I have an ebook I wrote on how it works and how to get started, I can email it to you right away! ChaCha has worked for me!

#63 thechronicler on 09.19.11 at 9:08 pm

Very informative review about the reality of being a Cha Cha guide. All that effort for pennies is just not worth my time. I found your blog while searching for honest Cha Cha guide reviews and have added a link back to it from mine. Keep up the good work!

#64 EvilxFemme on 12.30.11 at 10:27 am

Since this post I wanted to point out that they added a new vetter category, which I guess I am, though I don’t really touch it. It makes $0.005 a question. Yes, half a penny. It does go quickly, but it’s hard to do more than 2 (3 if you’re really good) questions a minute.
With 2 that comes out to $0.30 a hour.
With 3 it’s $0.90. It’s not worth it.

I signed up to be a Cha Cha guide (Vetter) 7 days ago. I can tell you 101% this is a scam. They promote $5-$7 dollars per hour but the truth is, it’s $2.50 per hour or $3 at YOUR BEST. I’m unemployed and I figured, OK… some money is better than NO money.. I studied all of their information and logged on for the exam. No exam popped up as instructed so I email Cha Cha indicating so. The next day I receive an email saying I was accepted (without taking the exam) and to start working. I worked probably 20 hours over 3 days and had a total of $47. It didn’t seem worth it, I wanted to gouge my eyes out! You have to make at least $150 to even get paid! But, I kept at it, thinking I needed that money and I would continue sitting on my butt to see how fast I could tally this. Into my 5th day of work, I got it up to $62… suddenly I get bumped out of the system. My access was denied. I recieved an email that was vauque in nature as to exactly what guideline I broke. I didn’t break any guideline. I gave all answers to the best of my ability. I was rated periodically with 100% scores, on a few occassions I received a 0 score (there’s no inbetween), zeros for what? These were my own answers that I had to research and input within 3 minutes of time.. they were answers that weren’t in their data base. Apparently any answer I gave no matter how thorough was wrong. I was getting set up for failure. I’m pretty sure I was booted because I was destined to make $150 per week, slave my life away, I was getting to that $150 mark too close for their comfort.. they expect you to work your life away and not hit that $150 mark for 2 or 3 more months. I busted my butt or them and didn’t get paid. No one to talk to about it and never any answers. Complete Joke. Oh and really, all the abuse a guide takes with the gross sexual content you have to deal with and name calling. Talk about abusive environment, pay wise and emotionally!
I think if you see ANY POSITIVE comments online about Cha Cha that they are planted by Cha Cha.. you cannot make more than $4 even when YOU TRY TO OUT DO THE SYSTEM! A friend of mine joined to prove a point and she just clicked on any answer repeatedly to see how much she could make even if she tried to out do it.. it was impossible and SURPRISINGLY she received good scores on how well she answered questions and was booted 10 days later without a reason. It’s set up to make you fail. I took this position seriously and I wasted my time and neglected my kids for a few fake bucks. Cha Cha please stop posting fake things about the earning potential and those guides posting links.. you’re wasting your time and taking advantage of others along with yourself!

#66 Ved on 02.20.12 at 4:24 am

PS.. that post up there from Lyssa, that is a complete LIE. A corporate Cha Cha employee posting a plant. You can’t even out do the system to get past $4 per hour, the questions popping up is not a problem, they pop up every split second for everyone. There is NO potential $7 to $10 per hour.. EVER! Someone should sue their butts! Did you hear me.. $4 at CHEATING THE SYSTEM and once you get half way to $150 within a week time, it’s buh bye for you!

#67 Ved on 02.20.12 at 4:27 am

PSS. FOLKS those of you that are Cha Cha guides.. you should know you get paid only ONE CENT PER TRANSACTION.. NOT 2, not 8 — ONE LOUSY CENT. It’s right on their website, actually their website states HALF CENT, so they must of bumped up the anny to ONE CENT. So sick of false information and out right BS.
